Rugrats through the eyes of HR

Rugrats through the eyes of HR

Rugrats may have been nothing but an interesting cartoon back when you used to watch it. But let’s look back on those little episodes that brought many a laughs and smiles to our faces with a different perspective in mind.

The little toddlers in diapers

“Aw, c'mon. Don't be a baby” -Tommy

Although we can never go back in time, we can always reflect back on the time when our smiles were genuine, our thoughts weren’t judgmental and our words were sweet and simple. Our busy schedule may not permit us to stop and think but just for a moment, while reading this, think of your day to day. How many of our words may hurt someone and how many of our thoughts are purely judgmental. If we could do it then, we can definitely do it now. Life has definitely taken a serious turn since the time we were all in diapers but we can always try to make a small difference. If you are a HR manager or any employee for that matter, you can incorporate a little bit of kindness to your daily conversations. It will definitely make a difference in yours as well as others lives. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make a big change.

Tommy, Chuckie, Lil, Phil, Kimi and Susan

“A baby's gotta do what a baby's gotta do!” -Tommy Pickles

Different personalities with one single thing in common, teamwork. They made everyone feel included and appreciated for their own little unique nature. Tommy the brave little one and Chuckie his best friend who fears adventures and enjoys a simple trouble free life, then there’s Phil and Lil the twins who weirdly enjoys eating bugs most of the time, the Innocent little Kimi, and the truthful, mature and kind Susan, make up a colorful group of toddlers, that stuck by each other through it all.

As the HR of the company it is important to always promote and also exhibit the importance of team working. Often times, many feel left out of their own organisation due to the lack of team work. There might even be groups that make some feel neglected and left out. This goes out to everyone, not only the HR of the company, make an effort to make everyone feel included. Every change needs to begin from you.

Angelica Pickles

“You babies are so dumb, I can`t believe you lived to be one.” - Angelica

The spoilt, mean little girl who was also Tommy’s cousin that always caused trouble. She made it her mission to mess with the little one’s heads and she definitely did enjoy watching them fall for her cruel little stories.

Although we don’t like to talk about it, we all know someone that enjoys bullying people, for their own personal pleasure. Bullying is a very serious and sensitive matter that even at such a young age, we were brought to witness through a cartoon. Turning to a friend for support will be your strength that will weaken the power, any bully may have over you. By opening up, you may even help out someone else going through the same thing. Never turn your back on someone who’s going through a similar situation, showing that you’re available to offer a consoling hand may be the best support you can give a victim of bullying. And as an HR Manager, if your employees are going through a similar situation it is important to take the right measures to put an end to the existing problem making sure that it doesn’t repeat itself in the future.

Thinking back to those little toddlers running around in diapers, they really did teach us some valuable lessons. Simplicity and kindness, teamwork, positivity, confidence and standing up strong can make a positive change in your work life. Remember little things can go a long way…
