Improve communication and team collaboration
Open and honest communication is one of the main elements of a positive workplace. To maintain good communication, teams must use effective communication methods and managers must give weekly feedback accordingly for team members. Also, organisations must improve internal commination strategies before external communication because your employees are your brand ambassadors in the outside world. Leadership and management styles directly influence workplace productivity and employee’s satisfaction, therefore having a skilled management team will be more effective if the organisation is looking for a cultural change. To build team collaboration organisations can arrange team building activities like movie nights, morning coffee sessions and day outs. These activities allow the team members to connect and build stronger positive relationships among their colleagues.
Creating a clear vales, vision, and mission statement
Having organisational values, mission and vision statements are not enough to create a positive culture in the organisation. Most of the organisation’s mission, vision and values are hanging on the walls but no one knows about it. Organisations need to communicate effectively with employees about their values, vision and mission so that the employees feel that they are a part of it, and they will work hard to achieve company goals. As an example, if a company says that they are ‘Green’ or ‘Fast’ those qualities must demonstrate from the employees. Otherwise having catchy taglines and values will not add any values to your organisation. You can put it in all your marketing materials, but those qualities are not showcased by organisation’s employees there is a clear gap between organisations image and identity. Therefore, organisations must implement culture-building activities inside the organisation which will help employees to go deeper into their cultural values.
Reward and recognition
Most of the organisations are now awarding employees as they achieve their assigned goals. In this era majority of the workforce is filled with generation Z and Millennials and their working patterns are different from baby boomers. Therefore, organisations need to change their culture and adapt to the new working culture to get the maximum outcome from Gen Z and Millennials. Since they like to be recognised, organisations must implement recognition programme and they need to reward for employees who are achieving their goals on time. According to recent studies, rewards and recognitions have a positive impact on employee satisfaction and productivity. Therefore, it is important to keep employees always satisfied to build a positive working culture within the organisation.
Implementation of these strategies are very critical if the organisation is willing to change their culture. Since this is a step by step process, the organisation needs to keep their eye on every step because if one step goes wrong, the entire approach will be a failure. It is recommended having a separate team to keep their eye on every process to get the maximum outcome of the cultural change within the organisation.
